Statera is a ground up design by our partner Ray Waters. Ray has really excelled with this differential balanced preamp circuit.
It is an extremely 'simple' circuit, yet, the result is an astounding sounding line preamp!
Simply put, this our best preamp design yet!
Circuit:
Statera is a differential balanced circuit, using the 6922/E88CC/6DJ8 audio tube. Each 'leg' of the balanced signal, +ve and -ve, uses one 6922 tube, with CCS and a MOSFET output buffer.
This results in two tubes per channel, four in total.
Power Supply:
We have completely re designed the high volatge B+ linear power supply.
Tube filament is regulated DC.
The power transformer is custom made for us by Lundahl Transformers to our exacting specifications.
Statera can be wired for 120V 60Hz or 220-240VAC 50Hz.
Components:
Only high quality components are used in the construction of Statera. Low-noise Vishay +/-1% variation metal film resistors are used throughout the signal circuit with high quality Panasonic metal oxide resistors in the power supply circuit. WIMA film, Wurth and Panasonic electrolytic capacitors are used throughout. Coupling capacitors are Mundorf MCap EVO series.
The volume controls are ALPS Blue Velvet potentiometers
The printed circuit boards are designed in house , manufactured to FR4-TG standards, and are double-layer with full ground planes on both sides to ensure complete screening of the circuits.
The XLR sockets are all of the Neutrik brand and soldered directly to their dedicated pcb. Input selection is via mini low signal audio relays, which are controlled via the front panel selector switch.
Tubes are factory new quad set of Genales Gold Lion E88CC's.
