Upgraded modern preamp chassis?

Anyone with ideas for upgraded preamp chassis?
The old PAS style is getting a little tired. And the circuit boards are far from original dynaco designs. Also they ask for ridiculous prices for an old beat PAS chassis.
Would anyone have a way to produce a modern alternative? Something more practical for us to install our new boards and make it look cool and original?
On my last build I ended up using a sca80 or something like that but was very cumbersome to work with.
