Designed with flexibility in mind, Aretha MKII XLR is a classic tone control, 6SL7 based tube preamplifier with balanced in and outputs, the signal conversions from balanced to single ended and vice versa being carried out by integrated circuits at the sockets, this is important to note!
Aretha XLR is a single ended preamp design, it is not a differential balanced preamp.
If you are unsure of what that means with relation to the balanced XLR in and outputs, please contact us first.
The preamp and power supply circuits are identical to our RCA version Aretha MKII.
The volume control is a precision machined 59 step attenuator, -60dB to 0dB.
Various customizations are available, such as a loudness switch and an infrared remote volume control. Please note: The loudness function is not available with the remote volume control!

We can build your Aretha XLR with a combination of XLR and RCA inputs, outputs are only available in XLR.
If you want any other special customizations, please contact us with your requets and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Every Aretha MKII XLR preamp comes with your choice of chassis wood and plate colors plus any of the options listed below, please inquire about wood for the chassis and plate colors.
The power switch can be either a LED pushbutton switch, as shown in the photo, or a LED toggle switch.
Aretha MKII XLR is built to order and will take around 6-8 weeks to complete and ship.
Please NOTE: the 6SN7 cannot be subbed for the 6SL7 with this preamp.
The 'no tube' option.
Due to the recent major price increases on factory new tubes, we are now offering a 'no tube' option. This means, we test Aretha MKII using our own tubes, then ship without tubes and you supply your own.
It is really important that you do read the caveats and fully understand the conditions under which we sell and ship Aretha MKII to you without tubes, thank you.
