Dynaco PAS service & rebuild
Our basic service rate is $55 per hour. Please Note: you'll need to contact us by email in advance for ANY type of service work to be performed on your equipment.

E-mail: upgradepas@gmail.com

Our estimate fee is $50 for each item. This fee is payable prior to our receiving your PAS or other Dynaco gear.
Our flat labor rate is $55/hour plus parts and tubes. Customer pays for shipping both ways.
Your gear will be serviced/restored and back on its way to you within 2-3 weeks.

Payment Terms:

1.  We must obtain a $50 initial deposit before you ship us the equipment. This is NON-refundable once we have received your gear. This is payable via PayPal only.
2. After your job is completed, you will be contacted by email and/or telephone with the final invoice amount.  At that time we will request payment for the balance, again via PayPal only.
3. You will be responsible for shipping and packing charges BOTH WAYS.

Packaging:

All equipment sent to us for service should be shipped as follows:

1. All equipment should be DOUBLE-BOXED with at least 1 inch
of cushion or foam between the inside box and the outside box for each 25 pounds of weight. So, if your amp weighs 35 pounds,
that's 1.5" all around each side, top, and bottom.
2. Tubes must be removed from amplifiers and packed along with the equipment wrapped in foam or bubble wrap.
3. Please use "Fragile" or "Handle with Care" stickers on the outside of the box.
4. You are responsible for providing insurance for the shipment for the maximum value of your equipment.
5. Use FedEx Ground or UPS Ground for shipment of anything weighing over 15 pounds. It is ok to use the Post Office on items
    weighing less than 15 pounds.

Do NOT send any equipment to us unless you talk to us first.

Typical turn-around time is 2-3 weeks unless we have to wait for special parts.

We also offer a Dynaco ST70 and PAS2/3/3X rebuild/upgrade service. We can do as little or as much of a rebuild of your ST70 or PAS2/3 as you want. It is entirely up to you.

ST70:

For the ST70 we use the very popular and truly excellent VTA-70 upgrade driver circuit using either the 12AU7 family of triodes or the 6SN7 family of triodes. Apart from hugely improved sound, this upgrade also includes an individual power tube BIAS setting, unlike Dynaco's original setup, which biases a pair of tubes. This will allow you to match each output tube to the best setting.

This basic upgrade will also get rid of the old selenium rectifier and capacitor set as all of this will now be on the one driver PCB. We use Russian PIO's for the coupling capacitors as standard, but we can use other types upon request. This may add to the cost depending on the type.  We are also happy to use coupling capacitors supplied by you.

The driver PCB is the most basic upgrade we offer. Depending upon the age and condition of your ST70, the multicap power supply capacitor may also need upgrading, as may  other components as well.

We can give you an estimate of what needs to be done based on photos and your description of the issues, or you can send your old ST70 to us and we will then make the proper recommendations. In this case, our standard estimate and service charges will apply. Please see above.

We also offer other upgrades such as the power supply transformer - the original PA060 was marginal at best. You can choose to upgrade the speaker posts, 21-step attenuator/volume control as well as a complete rewiring of your ST70. We do not offer any chassis reconditioning although we CAN offer a brand new, stainless steel chassis. We will, however, clean the chassis as best as we can.

PAS2/3/3X:

For the PAS2/3, we use our very own premium upgrade kits, which we sell in another part of this website - click here. As with the ST70, we can do as much or as little as you wish. You have the choice to retain the tone controls or go without them, go with an all solid state power supply or retain the use of the 12X4 rectifier tube. We also offer new front panels, in both silver or black with matching aluminum knobs.

Again, we can base an estimate on your e-mail and photos, or you can send in your tired old PAS2/3 and we will then make a proper assessment and quote. Our standard estimate and service charges will apply. Please see above.

To get an idea of all the different kits we offer for the PAS2/3, click here and browse our extensive online catalog. Again, we do not  recondition the chassis, but we can of course supply you a brand new one!
